About Concord
Concord, originally called Musketaquid meaning “grassy plain,” is now well known from the “Concord Grape.” It has great history starting with the Battle of Lexington and Concord and then had turning into a literary center with writers including Henry David Thoreau and Louisa May Alcott having lived there.
Today, the town center is still a primary destination for town residents. Full of services, restaurants, shopping and the famous Colonial Inn which is rumored to be haunted. Much like a few towns in the area, Concord has done a superb job in preserving its environment from development of homes to commercial retailers. Whether you are in the town center or West Concord, you will find quaint mom and pop shops in buildings that maintain their quaint and historic charm.
