Pre Approval
One of the very first things you will want to do is get a pre-approval letter. You may determine on your end what is a comfortable amount of money to spend, but a reputable mortgage agent will give you a true loan amount that a bank will approve you for. Getting a pre-approval letter is imperative as you should have that on file for when you are ready to make an offer.
Home Inspection
A home inspection is one of the best reports that your money can buy. It doesn’t matter what the age of the home is, a professional inspector is trained to review a home’s condition and can give you the best information about what work has been done and what repairs are needed. Information gathered from your inspection can assist you in planning for future repairs and in some cases can assist you in your offer amount should larger fixes be in need of immediate attention.
Ask Questions
As exciting as the home search can be, there are questions that you want to be asking aside from anything that is obvious. Some may seem fairly obvious, but may not be at the top of your list when you are actually touring at the property. Questions like age of systems, why the seller is selling and proximity to nearby services are all valid questions that should be standard as you tour properties.
